Obituary of Janice Whitaker Derreberry
Mrs. Janice Whitaker Derreberry age 68 of New Tazewell, TN was born February 15, 1953 and passed away on March 16, 2021 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center with her loving family by her side. She retired from Heartland Medical Center after many years. Janice was a member of the New Tazewell Methodist Church where she served as pianist for several years. Janice was well known by many for her beautiful voice and piano playing. She performed at numerous weddings, funerals, and events. Her most honorable performance was at the 1995 inauguration of Tennessee governor, Don Sundquist. Through her testimony we know she is now singing and playing for her Savior.

She is survived by her: Sons: Tandy and wife Mandy Derreberry

Grandchildren: Mick Ellis, John Derreberry and Jace Derreberry
Sister: Joan Donahue and husband Andy
Brother: Doyle Wayne Whitaker and wife Karen
Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law: Linda and Jim Welch
Special friend: Walter Gross
Best friend: Jackie Smith
And a host many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the family to help with medical expense.
The family will receive friends Sunday, March 21, 2021 from 1 PM till 3 PM with funeral services to follow at 3 PM in the Claiborne-Overholt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Reggie Large officiating. Music will be provided via CD by Janice Derreberry. Graveside service will follow in the Duncan-Baldwin Cemetery with music provided by David, Trish, and Alyssa.
