Susan Woodring

Obituary of Susan Mary Woodring

Susan Mary Brennan Woodring, age 66, of New Tazewell, TN passed away on April 10, 2019, with family by her side.

Sue was born on August 22, 1952 in New York, NY to James Joseph and Mildred (née Perich) Brennan in a traditional Irish Catholic home that laid the foundation for her remarkable life.  Her love of musical theater began at an early age. She shined brightly while onstage and so enjoyed singing and performing. As a young adult, she was the lead singer in a popular band that played all along the East Coast. Her ambition and drive made her a successful entrepreneur specializing in technology and accounting.  Sue is best described as a free and adventurous spirit with a great sense of humor and a quick wit. She enjoyed helping others, was well liked and loved by everyone.

One of Sue’s many adventures led her to St. Louis where she met and fell in love with Stephen (Woody) Woodring. Stephen and his family welcomed Sue and her girls as their own. Family was very important to Sue, especially her grandchildren. Over the past two decades, Sue and Woody built a beautiful life together, never hesitating to jump at an opportunity to enjoy a grandchild’s game, performance or event. Together, they attended as many as they possibly could, regardless of the distance. She found great joy in and was always so proud of her children and grandchildren, each knowing how much she loved them.

She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Stephen “Woody” Woodring; daughters Erin (Rodney) Fellers, Beth (Bob) Fallis and Dee (Robbie) Heaton; grandchildren Bailey (Payton) Hawkins, Riley, Brennan, Rory, Reece, Noah and Emma; great grandchildren Victor and Seth; her sister Barbara Nolte, brother Joseph (Tanya)Brennan; nieces and nephews Douglas, Christian, David, Gretchen, Nicole, Brooke and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Patricia Blake.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the medical team and staff at Fort Sanders Medical Center in Knoxville, TN, specifically thanking the CV ICU team for their excellent and compassionate care.
