Ben was a kind hearted soul to me. My fondest memory of him was when he came to my house to get a pound of butter because I was milking a cow and had more butter than I knew what to do with.
Just as he got to my house I was removing a pan of cornbread from the oven. He committed on how good it smelled so I offered him some. He sat down at the table in my little kitchen and enjoyed fresh cows milk with cornbread and fresh churned butter. I don’t think I have ever seen anyone enjoy a meal as much as he did that day. You would have thought it was a meal fit for a king.
He finished his meal and thanked me kindly. Then he picked up his butter and said I should let him know if I need to get rid of more. I did just that until the doctor told him he couldn’t have it anymore.
I am so very sorry for your loss. I know he will be missed, because he was loved.
