(Campbell) Payne Bertha Payne, ?Mrs. Clarence C? age 103 of New Tazewell, TN was born on October 19, 1905 and passed away on January 7, 2009. She was a member of New Tazewell First Baptist Church, since October 25, 1936, and in October 2005 celebrated her 100th birthday with her church family. Mrs. Payne is the widow of Clarence ?Pop? C. Payne. ?Pop? formerly owned the Pontiac & International Harvester dealership in New Tazewell, (in the 1940?s and 50?s) near the present Century Telephone building, along with his son Bill and wife Sammie, daughter Ruth and her husband Dave Lipton. Bertha and Clarence were married October 27, 1923. She was preceded in death by her: Husband: Clarence ?Pop? C. Payne Parents: Ewin and Martha (Shumate) Campbell Son: Bill Payne and wife Sammie Daughter: Anna Ruth Lipton and husband David Brothers: Lon Campbell and Neal Campbell Sister: Eliza Carmack and husband Glenn Grandson: John Payne Lipton She is survived by her: Daughter: Peggy Chumley and husband Bill of Rockledge, FL Grandchildren: Jim and Chryse Chumley Joe and Cheryl Chumley Bill and Kathy Chumley Margaret and Bobby Schneider Gene Payne and wife Trudy Susan and Harold Cobler Jane Lipton Steve Lipton 15 Great Grandchildren 3 Great-Great Grandchildren Caretaker and very special friend: Joyce Payne And a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 11, 2009 from 1 until 2 PM at Claiborne Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 2 PM in the Claiborne Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Charles Earl officiating. Music will be provided by Reverend Swann Bush and Connie Bush, Becky Livesay and Brenda Bolden. Graveside services will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers: Grandsons.
