Obituary of Alma Jean McKeel

Alma Jean Lynch McKeel, age 90 of Rocky Point, NC went to be with our Lord and Savior Monday September 6, 2021, while residing with her daughter. Alma Jean died peacefully. She was born on October 26, 1930 in Knoxville, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel McKeel, her parents, E. R. Lynch and wife Viola Widner Lynch, her brother, Edker Lynch, and her son J. R. McGeorge.

Alma Jean was a member of Riley’s Creek Baptist Church of Rocky Point. She loved being a member of her church family. She also loved to travel, crochet and cook for her family. She was an exceptional mother and wife who taught her children to respect and love one another as well as our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

 Alma Jean is survived by her children, Phyllis McGeorge of Loudon, TN, Gloria Claubough (Sudie) and partner Ross also of Loudon, TN, Richard McGeorge and partner Patricia of Knoxville, TN, Carolyn Hayes and husband Hampton Hayes of Rocky Point, and adopted daughter, Dikki Wells of Willard; grandchildren, Hampton Hayes Jr., Bradford Hayes, Monica Foy, Brian Jessee, Brent Orrick, Regina Nix and Jessica Hechevarria; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; brother, Edward Lynch and wife Bertha of Tazewell TN; and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Please join us in celebrating her life Wednesday September 8, 2021at 3:00 PM at Harrell’s Funeral Home Chapel in Burgaw. Pastor Lanier Furr will officiate the funeral service. The family will receive one hour prior to the service at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Mrs. McKeel will be transported to the Claiborne ~ Overholt Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at the Lily Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in New Tazewell, TN for a private burial service for immediate family. Officiated by the Rev. Jack Day.
