Obituary of Anderson Pressnell

Mr. Anderson “Tubby” Pressnell, age 86, of Tazewell, TN was born August 23, 1934 and went to be with the Lord on Thursday January 7, 2021. He was a Christ-follower and was a member of Midway Baptist Church where he served as a deacon until he was not physically able to serve. Tubby served as a county commissioner in Claiborne County. He and Ann were the proprietors of Home Center in Tazewell for many years. He was a gifted sales representative for various manufacturers and wholesale hardware companies. He loved his customers and treated them like family. He was preceded in death by his parents Rev. Cap and Elsie Pressnell; one brother Floyd (Betty); sisters Anna Mae Collins (Richard) and Edith Robinson (Roy), Brother-in-law Dick Fugate. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ann Wylie Pressnell, who was the love of his life. The Lord blessed their marriage with four adoring children. Debi Dobbs (Kermit) of Knoxville; Randy (Debbi) of Church Hill; Ronnie (Linda) of New Tazewell; Lori Smith (Don) of Tazewell. Tubby really came to enjoy life with the arrival of grandchildren. Kristen (Abe) Powell, Micah (Kendra)Dobbs, Andrew (Nicosha) Pressnell, Katy Noe, Nathaniel (Marissa) Pressnell, Chelsea (Josh) Estes, Aaron Smith, and Amy Smith. He was adored by his 12 great-grandchildren. He earned the nickname by some of them as Papaw Rooster because out of the blue he would crow like a rooster. He is also survived by his sister Opal Fugate and his brother Ray and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and an endless list of friends. The family would also like to thank the staff of Claiborne Nursing and Rehabilitation for the excellent and loving care they gave Tubby during this very difficult time. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 10, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Midway Baptist Church, 905 Yoakum Lane, New Tazewell, TN 37825 with the celebration of life service to follow at 7 PM with the Rev. Clayton Dunsmore and Rev. Kim Collingsworth officiating. Music will be provided by Rev. Kenny Trent. Graveside services will be conducted Monday, January 11, 2021 at 11 AM at the Irish Memorial Gardens. To respect Tubby and protect his beautiful bride, the family is requiring all in attendance wear a mask and practice social distancing.
