Obituary of Roy Edward Thomas

Mr. Roy Edward Thomas, age 82 was born on October 29, 1937, on a mountain side in Lee County, Virginia. The Homestead where he, his brothers, sisters, cousins, uncles, aunts and grandparents settled, lived and survived is now a part of our beautiful Cumberland Gap National Park. He was a member of TNT Church of God and loved fellowshipping with his church family and his big extended family, especially all the kids… all the time. He retired from the US Steel Zinc Mines in June 1996, but continued to work on the farm and at home until he was no longer able to do so. He passed away June 11, 2020 at home with his loving family by his side. He was preceded in death by his: Father – Joe Henry Thomas Mother – Gracie Mae Thomas Brown Brothers – Clyde Thomas Leonard Thomas and wife Nina Henry Lee Thomas Roscoe Thomas Coy Edger Thomas (twin brother) and wife Imogene Sisters – Annie Thomas Goad and husband Kenny Christine Thomas Murphy and husband Hobart Merleen Thomas (infant sister) He is survived by his: Wife - Gladys Fultz Thomas of 65 years Son – Marlin Edward Thomas Daughters – Sharon Smith (Barry) Pam Smith Renee Thomas Grandchildren – Candace Thomas Amelia Smith Aaron Jackson and wife Molly Dusty Smith Matt Cody Smith Drey Thomas Great-grandchildren – Isaac Thomas Thomas Edward Walker Isaiah Thomas Enoch Smith Melody Ann Smith Brother – Wayne Thomas Sister – Jearleen Fultz and husband Benny And a hose of nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends Services: The family will receive friends Saturday June 13, 2020 from 5PM – 7PM in the Claiborne ~ Overholt Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be Sunday June 14, 2020 2PM at the Claiborne ~ Overholt Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Paul Dean and Rev. Keith Stewart will be officiating. Music will be provided by Donnie and Allison Harrison, David and Kathy Ray, David Painter and Chuck Painter. Graveside Services will follow in the Burch Cemetery.
