I've been missing my friend and wondering where he's been and just now seeing this hurts my heart. Randy had such enthusiasm about life and was passionate about so many things, especially and most importantly the love he had for the Lord, his parents, his children and his special Lady. He adored and was so very proud of each and every one. I'm grateful to have known Randy and so proud of all that he has overcome and for what he has accomplished in his life. Well done, my friend. You are missed.

So sorry to hear about the loss of Randy. I worked with Randy at WCRK radio station in Morristown in the late 1980's. Actually, my family co-owned the radio station. At that time, Randy was a part-time weekend announcer and I was an advertising representative. I remember him as being a reliable employee who was fun to be around. Everyone at the station loved him.
A couple of years ago I almost reconnected with Randy. I was riding down the road in Morristown and listening to the Sports Animal (Knoxville) radio sports talk show. Randy was a caller that day so it caught my attention. During his on air interview, Randy mentioned he had worked for WCRK years ago and that WCRK was a "Vol network station" and he (Randy) used to run the Tennessee football games on his Saturday shift. Then, he said " I worked with Mark Ashford and....he may be listening to me at this moment." Unbelievable....I was listening that day at that moment!!! For several days after that, I tried to reach out to Randy but never could find a correct phone number for him. I wanted to share this story with him. Someday in heaven, I will share this story with Randy and we'll have a good laugh over it.
To Randy's family: Eddie, Billie Jo, Samuel, Hannah, Tonya, and Amy.....I've never met you, but I can attest that Randy was a fine man and I really enjoyed the few years I spent working with him many years ago. My prayers are with you.

Our good byes echo Heaven's hellos. I will always see you Randy as the bright eyed young man so excited that he was the UPI press agent stringer for the local election returns. As the voices buzzed around us, through an excited and proud voice, you shared with me your dreams of becoming a writer and reporter; how you loved being in that moment among friends and family, and how proud you were to live your life in Claiborne County. Over the years I bore witness to the tears along the way too that would grace those same bright eyes; tears of both joy and anguish over personal and public struggles you seemed to face from time to time. Never was I so happy as when meeting up with you and hearing of your accomplishments attained as a result of overcoming obstacles along the way . I was -and am - proud of you for rising up to defeat the barriers encountered; I am prouder still of the Brother in Christ that you modeled along the way and the Christian love you gave to Claiborne County unconditionally, even when some or most around you were ugly and hard to love. I hope you knew , my younger friend, how much it meant to those of us whom you loved and supported, because we loved you too. You shall never be forgotten.
